The Crew Cuts were from Toronto (formed 1952); first named Canadaires … Chords version never made it to the Top 40!!

At least five other cover versions of "Crying in the Chapel" followed the Orioles' recording (Elvis' version hit #3 3/65; #1 Adult Contemporary

Significant in regards to these covers is the fact that major companies were covering R&B originals; see Table 3-1 in text
