The Effective Use of Audio on the Internet. This document provides a resource to educators interested in using the internet to disseminate musical materials or to incorporate sounds files into their instructional materials. Using Director to Create Interactive Multimedia Materials for the Music Classroom. This site is a companion to the presentation given at IMEA, providing detailed, step-by-step instructions for creating the examples presented at the conference. Also included are templates and an "Audio File Size Calculator" that provides the novice an intuitive means for determining the size of an audio sound file and the amount of time required to download such a file over the internet, based on parameters specified by the user. 2004 – received $28,808.84 to support the 8 th International Conference on Music Perception & Cognition, hosted by the Northwestern University School of Music and sponsored by the national Society of Music Perception & Cognition

2003-2004 – received $24,996 for the creation of a collaborative partnership with the Carnegie Hall Weill Music Institute, that benefited over two thousand 4 th to 6 th graders in the Chicago Public Schools. The project, called LinkUP! Was funded by a $100,000 grant from Verizon

2003—partnership between Northwestern's Music Education program and Carnegie Hall Education Department and Verizon; approximately $50,000 to facilitate integration of a music curriculum into eleven to fifteen Chicago public schools (see Listening Adventure online)

2000—The Institute for Music Research received a $250,000 grant from Texaco Corporation for use in a variety of research projects in collaboration with the UT Health Science Center's Research Imaging Center.

1999Received $5,977 for a collaborative technology-based teaching grant with Dr. Sabine Thomas (Geology).  This grant was funded by the Center for Academic Technology, the Teaching & Learning Center, and the Faculty Committee on Student Retention, based on a strategic initiative proposed by the Information Technology Academic Advisory Group.
